Basically it collides atomic particles at about the speed of light
I think believing in God is being lazy, and people use god to put an answer to things we dont quite know yet, but will one day find out. And guess what that day is about come.
Being a non religious person that believes that science and physics are the real shit, i have been waiting quite a while for them to turn this particle collider on. They can discover new dimensions, and discover a new particle that gives matter to mass, hunt for dark matter and dark mass, maybe prove the superstring theory, and possibly what caused the big bang (which we always thought could never be answered, and thus creating the answer that god caused it), but the real answer may be here soon, at least in our lifetime.

On a small side note, the particle collider might spawn a black hole which may devour the earth.
